In recent years, solar lighting has become increasingly popular as a way to light up dark areas around the home or business. There are many benefits to using solar lighting, including the fact that it is environmentally friendly and can save you money on your energy bill. However, there are also some things you should keep in mind before you purchase solar lights for your home or business. Here are 7 frequently asked questions about solar lighting.

How does solar lighting work?

As the world becomes increasingly focused on sustainable energy sources, solar lights are becoming more popular. Solar lighting is powered by the sun’s energy and uses it to charge a battery. This battery powers an LED light, which turns on automatically when it gets dark outside. The main components of solar light are usually the solar rechargeable battery, the LED light, and a solar panel, which detects darkness and converts solar energy. The photovoltaic process converts solar energy into usable electricity, making solar lights an environmentally friendly way to light up your home or business.

Solar light is powered by photovoltaic cells which absorb energy from the sun and convert it into electricity. The built-in sensors detect when the level of light outside begins to decrease, signaling that it is time to turn on the light. The solar light will then remain on until dawn when the sensors detect an increase in light levels, at which point the light will turn off.

The solar panel soaks up the sun’s rays and transfers them into electrical energy – every day, the unit charges. Even on days with less direct sunlight, like during winter, high-quality units will still charge and work, though less effectively.

Installing solar lighting is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint and save on energy costs. These lights rely on the sun for power, so there are no monthly bills or expensive wiring to worry about. Solar lights can last for many years with proper care, making them a smart and sustainable choice for your home and business.

Does solar lighting need additional batteries?

Our solar lights are powered by an internal high-quality Life PO4 battery that is designed to last for many years. There is no need to buy additional battery, as it is integral to the functioning of the light. In our experience, these batteries have an estimated life of many years, so you can rest assured that your solar light will continue to work for a long time.

Does solar lighting need the sun or any light?

Solar lightings are most effective when they are exposed to daylight, rather than artificial light. Although artificial light may help to charge the solar lights, it will not be as effective as daylight.

Does solar lighting work in winter/in the shade?

Yes – just not as effective.

Solar lights rely on sunlight to charge, so they are most effective when receiving direct sunlight. In the height of summer, when the sun is highest in the sky, solar lights will charge more quickly. However, solar lights can still charge in winter, though not as quickly, since there is still some sun even in winter months. Shade also affects charging time, as solar lights will charge more slowly if they are in a shady spot.

How long do solar lights stay on?

Well, it is actually decided by the following factors:

Working mode——-different working modes will make solar lights have different working time, such as time control mode, sensing mode, and continuous lighting mode. Time control mode means the light working is controlled by time, such as 2 hours 100% brightness+3hours 70% brightness+7 hours 20% brightness. Sensing mode means the light is controlled by a Pir or microwave sensor, the light will turn on when it detects motion and turn to off after leaving. The continuous lighting mode will make the light turn on always during the night.

Battery type&capacity—— The better the battery you are using, the longer working time it has. Also, the bigger the battery size is, the longer working time it has.

For example, our Galaxy solar street light 100W use 54AH 12.8V Life PO4 battery which can work for 5-7 clouday/rainy days after fully charging with time control mode 3 hours 100% brightness+2hours 80% brightness+7 hours 25% brightness.

Where can solar lights be installed?

Solar lights are an excellent way to light up your property without having to worry about wiring or electricity. They are easy to install and can be placed practically anywhere as long as there is access to sunlight. Perfect for illuminating your walkway, driveway, or garden, solar lights are a great way to add safety and security to your home.

It is important to note that if you are installing solar panels on vertical walls or fences, they need to be in direct sunlight for optimal performance. If you are unsure of the best placement, our sales team can advise you.

Are solar lights good for the environment?

Yes! For all sorts of reasons!

Solar lights are an excellent way to reduce your carbon footprint. They rely on renewable energy sources, which means they produce zero emissions. They also have fewer infrastructure requirements than traditional lighting solutions and can last for many years. Additionally, solar lights can help reduce light pollution, which has a positive impact on nocturnal animals. Our Bat Hat solution is designed to reduce the upward spillage of light, minimizing disruptions to bats and other nocturnal creatures in urban areas. This is just one of the many ways our solar lights provide superior results.
